Adjustment Of Status I-485

Adjustment of Status I-485 Lawyer in Alexandria, VA

Serving Clients in Fairfax County, Arlington County & Northern VA

Adjusting one's status to lawful permanent resident within the United States is pivotal for many immigrants. This procedure enables individuals already present in the U.S. on a temporary visa to obtain green card status without the need to return to their home country for visa processing. It's a path that leads to new opportunities and rights and promises a more secure future.

This procedure is conducted through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). It is a crucial step for many immigrants seeking to lay down roots in the U.S., pursue employment opportunities, or unite with family members.

Mughal Law Firm provides experienced and skilled legal help for those who wish to file an Adjustment of Status I-485, the application for pursuing a green card. Our team has handled thousands of cases since our firm's founding a decade ago. We go the extra mile to provide you with knowledgeable and compassionate legal help from beginning to end of the legal process.

  • You are perceived as dangerous for various reasons
  • You were admitted as a crewman on a boat, as someone in transit through the U.S., or as someone coming to testify as a witness

What Do You Need to File an I-485?

To file a Form I-485, you need proof of your eligibility, which generally requires:

  • Birth certificates
  • Passports
  • Proof of your eligibility category
  • Proof that you are not in one of the ineligible categories
  • Medical examination
  • Proof that you won’t become a public charge

Often, proof that you will not be a public charge may require Form I-864, an Affidavit of Support. However, some eligibility categories do not need an I-864. If that is the case, you must prove your assets and employment.
